Mental Health Matters: Breaking the Stigma

Mental Health Matters: Breaking the Stigma

Mental health struggles are still met with silence in many of the communities Open Health Foundation serves. Families caring for a loved one with a serious illness often carry an invisible emotional weight, one that goes unspoken because there simply isn't language, or permission, to talk about it openly. Our Mental & Emotional Wellness Program was built to change that. Through group counseling sessions, one-on-one support, and community awareness events like our Mental Health Awareness Day, we are working to make it normal and safe to ask for help. Healthcare workers and caregivers are included in this effort too, since the people caring for others often neglect their own wellbeing first. Breaking stigma takes time and repetition, not a single campaign. We are proud of the small but steady shift we have seen: more people are starting conversations, more caregivers are asking for support before they burn out, and more families are finding community rather than isolation in their hardest moments.
